Experiment 1

Experiment number 1 has ended on March 31, 2007. The below text is saved for reference. After you read the experiment you might be interesting in the results for the first psi experiment.

This first experiment is the most basic one in the field of parapsychology. I have taken the golden ring (seen on the photo on the right) and put it inside one of five little lego parts. I will also call them boxes. You have to fill in the form below in which part, in your opinion, is the ring. Now to the details:

I have taken the following steps to make this experiment random and clean:

First, I have rolled a dice once to select into which box to put the ring. This should eliminate all the psychological aspect of me choosing where to put the ring. This way, the chance of the ring to be in any one of the five boxes is exactly 20 percent.

Second, the setup, seen on the photograph below, will be left intact until the end of the experiment. This might be "easier" to dowsers and remote viewers since it will not require looking back in time, but rather the question can be seen as where is the ring right now and not where it was at the time of the photo or what number did the dice show.

This photo below was taken after I put the ring into one of the boxes.

How can you possible know?

  • If you don't want to try anything interesting you can just guess, or roll a dice yourself.
  • You can consult your intuition, for example by looking at the five boxes and selecting the first thing that comes to mind.
  • More interesting is using a pendulum. Open the larger image and either print it or use it on screen. Now, using a pendulum, glide over each box on the photo and ask the pendulum if the ring is inside that box. Pendulums answer by their movement. For example, the movement can be in circles or straight lines. You may want to practice first with the pendulum and learn how it shows to you "yes" and "no".
  • You may try a more direct extra-sensory approach. Use your finger or palm of the hand to glide over the boxes in the image and ask your subconscious to signal you where the ring is. The signal can be any feeling, even light, on the finger or the palm, such as hear, cold, tingling, pressure etc.
  • You may try visualization in meditation. Look at the photo and remember it. Close the eyes, relax for several minutes. Now ask your mind to show you where the ring is and visualize the photo as you remember it. Try to see where the ring is.

As you see, there are many ways that can be tried. I'm sure many more exist. You can try several times using different approaches. You may submit your answer multiple times, in which case, each time specify the method that you used.

Spread the word about this experiment using the web. Ask your friends and relatives to participate. The more people take part in the experiment, the more reliable will be the results.

How will you know that I didn't cheat?

First, believe me I don't have any interest to cheat since this is a research I'm genuinely interested in. But if you're afraid that I'm going to cheat about the answer, here's the solution. Below you'll find the answer in an encrypted way. The string in the next paragraph is the result of one-way hashing of an answer string, which describes in which box is the ring. The algorithm used to hash is SHA-1 and it's almost impossible to get back the answer from the hashed string. When the experiment is over I'll post the answer string and everybody will be able to verify that this string indeed has the hash value used below. If you didn't understand the above but want to know what this is, search the internet for SHA-1.

So, the hashed answer string is:
651f54ab012c24b52d664534921f6562a02bc55a

Now, make your educated guess and fill the form below.

I encourage to fill the optional email field for the following reasons:

  • Only registered users will be eligible to win prizes. Otherwise I have no way to contact you.
  • Some future experiments will be between registered participant, so if you want to take part in all future experiments, your email will be needed.
  • You'll also be subscribed to the newsletter which will have announcements of results and of future experiments. That way you're not going to miss a thing.
